Leadership

The Board of Directors of the Edgewater Community Council is the governing body of the organization, responsible for setting ECC's policy and direction.  The Board consists of 30 Directors elected by the ECC membership at large; any ECC member in good standing may stand for election to the Board. Directors hold office for three years, with terms staggered so that that one-third of the seats are up for election every year.

In addition, the elected Directors may appoint representatives of up to 2 local institutions to seats on the Board. Also entitled to seats are ECC's current President, Immediate Past President, ECC's Executive Director, and the Chair of ECC's Care for Real Committee, which oversees ECC's emergency food and goods pantry, Care for Real. With these additions, the Board's total size increases to 36.

Meetings of the Board of Directors generally take place on the third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Stetson Conference Room on the first floor of 6044 N. Broadway. Board meetings are open to the public.

The Executive Committee is empowered to take action on behalf of the Board in between regular Board meetings. It consists of the officers of the organization, all standing committee chairs, and any other Directors chosen by the Board, as well as the President and Executive Director.
